FUMC Bridgeport Costa Rica mission team2018 Costa Rica Mission Trip

Dear Church Family,

It was an honor to once again represent FUMC Bridgeport as we reached out to help our brothers and sisters in Costa Rica.

Last year, we worked on the ground level of a church being built on higher ground in a small, impoverished community where flooding is prevalent. Our team of fifteen returned there this year to find previous mission groups had erected cinder block walls. Forms were ready to build and fill with cement. The church pastor, our foreman, his helper and two young boys in the church worked alongside us to finish laying blocks. With a huge team effort working steady and hard each day, we were able to complete all ten columns.

Five to seven church ladies came each day and cooked scrumptious lunches for us over a wood burning fire pit in a tiny, makeshift kitchen that was hotter than hot!

FUMC Bridgeport Costa Rica mission tripOur afternoon Vacation Bible Schools to three different rural churches gave us the opportunity to love on the children and bring the message of hope through the promises of God with our Noah theme. All these precious children left with gifts, balloons and big happy faces.

Worshiping with our new Costa Rica friends and establishing cherished relationships with them as well as our Ft. Worth group members is, as always, the highlight of our trip.

FUMC Bridgeport Costa Rica mission tripWe return home with a better understanding each year of what God means by “His universal church — Impacting our world with the love of Christ.”

Thank you for your prayers (the church sendoff meant so much to us!) and for pouring into the Costa Ricans with your financial support.
