FUMC Bridgeport Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

In light of the current pandemic, there will be some temporary changes regarding church services. At this time, we will have services Sunday, March 15, 2020. If you are in a high-risk group or have any underlying health conditions, please consider staying home and watch our services on Facebook Live. The 11:00 a.m. service will be broadcast and recorded. If you are feeling sick, please stay at home and get well. Extra hand sanitizers will be made available throughout the church. The pews will be wiped down between services. While it is good that we are a handshake/hugging church, let’s use a fist bump or elbow bump for now.

We want to carry on healthy fruitful lives. We also want to encourage each other to use the health care precautions that we already know, such as washing our hands and not touching our face, coughing into our elbows, and keeping some space between each of us. As a church, we care about each other and take the health care of our congregation seriously. At the same time, our church remains a stable place of peace in a time of confusion and concern.

Remember our friends and neighbors. Call and check on one another. Caution is prudent, but we do not want to isolate ourselves or others. Remember that we are a people of faith. Find peace in worship of Almighty God and comfort in one another.  Let us continue to pray for our first responders as well as our health care workers and public officials. And let us take seriously our call to pray for our community and the world in light of this pandemic. One person lost, who otherwise would not have been, is one too many.

Let normalcy with caution and faith carry us through this time. This is temporary. Stay well, stay in touch, care for and pray for one another, and remember that you are loved by Almighty God.

May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you!
