Sam and Cathy have been married just over thirty years and have two daughters, Aubrey and Cameron. Aubrey is a music teacher in Mabank, Texas, (married to Nathan Presley) with their first grandson Nathaniel. Cammy is a fourth-year student at Texas Woman’s University, works for Denton ISD in child care, and is finishing her third summer on the staff at Riverbend Retreat Center in Glen Rose, Texas. Sam graduated from University of North Texas in Choral Music and Voice in 1980, and SMU’s Perkins School of Theology in 1994. In twenty years he has served three appointments (Paris, Pottsboro, and Duncanville) in the North Texas Conference with the longest tenure being more than eleven years at Lakeway UMC in Pottsboro, near Lake Texoma. During years of pastoral ministry and eight years of full-time youth and children’s ministry before ordination, Sam has led camps and retreats at Bridgeport Conference Center many times, directing one of our Conference Senior High Camps for ten seasons.
